Netanyahu moves to the head of the local security service in Israel, Ronin Bar

A statement issued by the Netanyahu office said on Sunday that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told the head of the local intelligence service in Shin Hanan that he would ask the government to agree to his dismissal this week.

Ronin Bar’s dismissal is likely to attract widespread criticism as Israel faces the possibility of renewing fighting in Gaza with dozens of Israeli hostages who are still being held there.

Netanyahu said that he has long lost confidence in lawyers and that confidence in the head of the local security service, which includes its roles to fight terrorism and security for government officials, was especially decisive in wartime.

Bar said that the only confidence that was forced to win is that the citizens of Israel, and that Netanyahu’s expectations for “personal confidence” are inconsistent with the interests of the state, with a possible escalation in Gaza.

Bar’s dismissal will be presented to the government on Wednesday, according to an official near Netanyahu, but he may face legal challenges.

Shin Pitt, the Israeli counterpart of the US Federal Investigation Office (FBI), is part of the investigation of possible links between the employees of the Netanyahu and Qatar office, which was mediated in the ceasefire talks in Gaza.
