JD Vance to visit Greenland with pressure on Trump

US Vice President JD Vance will visit an American military base in Greenland on Friday, adding pressure on the independent Danish lands that Donald Trump wants to take over.

His office said on Tuesday in a statement that Vans, who has become a Trump attack dog on foreign policy matters, will travel with his wife, Osha, to the Betvic satellite base “to receive a briefing on Arctic security issues and meet with US service members.”

This announcement came a few hours after the Danish Prime Minister Mitty Friedriksen’s visit to the second planned lady to Greenland-before the vice president explained that he would accompany his wife-as “unacceptable pressure” on both the region and Denmark.

“There was a lot of excitement about Usha’s visit to Greenland on Friday, to the point that I decided that I do not want her to get all this fun by herself, so I will have to join her,” Vans said in a video on Tuesday.

Since his return to power in January, Trump has insisted that he wants the United States to take over Greenland for national security and refused to exclude force use.

In his announcement of the video, Vans said that other countries sought to use the region “to threaten the United States, and to threaten Canada, and of course, the threat of the Greenland people.”
