How X benefits with Musk’s progress to Trump

On the last Thursday, the journalists who were wandering in the White House’s press briefing room witnessed an unfamiliar face in a roundabout dedicated to the new media.

John Stol, who was recently appointed as the head of the news at X, was occupied by Elon Musk.

“You all know – all of you on X – it is home to hundreds of millions of users, a large group of journalists and independent news institutions across geographical areas and political deficiencies,” said Caroline Levitt, a White House press secretary, through an introduction. Then I asked Mr. Stol to ask the first question.

The White House’s decision to give X was a position of power and vision alongside news organizations, one of the increasing number of privileges fell by the social media company, as Mr. Musk became present alongside President Trump.

Since the elections, the platform has become a source of combating administration information, as Mr. Musk offers actual time updates on the Ministry of Governmental efficiency and its goals to reduce federal costs of more than 219 million followers. In February, it has created at least ten government agencies, including the internal revenue department and the Ministry of Defense, new X accounts focusing on DOGE to search for tips on federal waste and fraud. Users looking for an audience with Mr. Musk have risen to the site hunting his ear.

X status as a strong governmental force helped to strengthen the platform, even as the company continues to struggle. It has stood to achieve the goals of revenue and advertising in recent months, according to the internal email messages seen in the New York Times. Organizational scrutiny abroad is faced. On March 28, Mr. Musk announced that he sold X to start artificial intelligence, XAI, which combines a company struggling with a faster growth company.

However, the X’s increasing vision under the Trump administration emerged – and it had an aura effect. Bankers have sold billions of dollars in the company’s distinguished debts in recent weeks, with the help of the investor optimism about Mr. Musk’s alignment with Mr. Trump. Main advertisers such as Amazon and Apple have returned.

Although it is not clear how long the new X momentum will continue, and how much is a direct result of Mr. Musk’s proximity to Mr. Trump, the recent successes are noticeable after years of work problems.

“X is where everything happens in the actual time,” Linda Yakarino, CEO of X, wrote on the platform last month. “Raw ideas, not filters, with more truth and more sounds.”

Mr. Musk did not respond to the comment. X and White House refused to comment.

The changes made on X follow a few months, as Mr. Musk has become one of the most influential advisers to Mr. Trump, including the Ministry of Governmental Efficiency Command. From my office wing next to the White House, Mr. Musk, who also leads the Tesla and Rockket Compax, was a fundamental role in setting up management policy and age.

X has faced obstacles since Mr. Musk bought it for $ 44 billion in late 2022. More than 80 percent of employees rejected and removed the rules of moderate content that limit hate speech. Some advertisers have left, worried that their brands will appear next to the offensive content.

In December, the fidelity, who invested in the acquisition of Mr. Musk, is estimated at $ 12 billion.

But in February, X bankers finally managed to sell billions of dollars in debt to investors. Months ago, investors were negotiating to buy this debt with a loss from 10 percent to 20 percent for banks. “Some companies may be tense to look at them as not on board with the administration because they are not involved in X,” said Joe Ellen Bouznner, Associate Professor of Administration at Liji College of Business at the University of Santa Clara.

However, X faced continuous conflicts. In January, Mr. Musk wrote in an email to employees that the revenues were “indifferent” and that the company was “barely broken”. As of early March, X 91 million dollars of ads served in the first quarter, another message is much lower than its goal of $ 153 million.

“The enemy time to the finish line is now,” read the email.

Mr. Musk announced the deal on March 28 through about 33 billion dollars and linked its wealth to Xai, which amounted to $ 80 billion.

“We have no great feeling of what any of these companies deserves,” said Eric Talle, a professor of law in Colombia, a specialist in corporate governance. “They almost rise and fall together.”

Mr. Musk, who has long served the media for himself and his companies, has in recent months at X as a new media outlet, using his own power to make his news to extract the spotlight to his platform.

“You are the media now,” as it was published on January 15, and it is re -supervising a video of itself as it was putting x as a future for the citizen press. He said in the video: “The old media is controlled by a handful of editors in the president, and for this reason I encourage people to write things on the X platform.”

With Mr. Musk cut the government costs, the DOGE initiative received X account and the gray check -up emblem of official government accounts. The account now announces the initiative’s achievements and is pushed to critics.

“It turns X as a platform into government media, without any kind of restrictions,” said David Kai, a professor of law at the University of California, Irvin, who is studying online.

In February, X also added DOGE accounts to government agencies, including the Social Security Administration and the Securities and Exchange Commission. Although agencies already have accounts on X, the new accounts titled DOGE have received the gray selection mark badges usually for government agencies. They have worked as a tip lines for a cost reduction project, which encourages users to share information about federal waste.

Conservatives have found that X is a direct pipeline for Mr. Musk, allowing them to influence federal policy. Viral complaints about the government have responded to the platform, and the cost reduction initiative has identified user concerns as “fixed”.

Senator Johnny Ernest, a Republican in Iowa, has long focused on reducing government costs, herself in a November publication in the Senate. Mr. Musk responded with two expressive symbols of the American flag.

“Thank you for your many years of hard work to improve government competence! Very useful,” Mr. Musk wrote in an exchange in December.

X has created a major position from the news site to oversee the company’s partnerships with media companies that announce or share its work on the platform and rented Mr. Stoll, the former editor of the Wall Street Journal, in January.

Soon after Mr. Trump took office, the administration decided to get rid of the White House press room. A prominent chair will be appointed alongside the lecture of the press secretary of a correspondent from the “new media”, a term that includes creators, influencers and creators of “related content”.

During the appearance of Mr. Stoll only in the press room so far, he said that his presence was a testimony to “openness to the White House but also to innovation.”

Then he asked about “confidence in the efficiency of this administration to go to the soles of the feet with Vladimir Putin.”
