Netanyahu’s office said the ICC’s decision was “anti-Semitic” and that he “will not yield to pressure or be deterred” until Israel’s war aims are achieved.
Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar said that the International Criminal Court had “lost all legitimacy” after issuing the arrest warrants against Netanyahu and Gallant.
“It is a dark moment for the ICC,” Saar said on Channel X, adding that it had issued “ridiculous orders without authority.”
There was no immediate comment from Gallant.
In a statement, Hamas welcomed the arrest warrants against Gallant and Netanyahu and urged the court to expand accountability to include all Israeli leaders.
Basem Naim, a senior Hamas official, told Reuters that the arrest orders against the Israelis are an important step towards achieving justice for the victims.
He added: “But it remains a limited and spiritual step if it is not supported practically by all countries to implement this decision in accordance with law and justice.”
European Union Foreign Policy Coordinator Josep Borrell said that the decision was not political, but rather taken by a court, and therefore it must be respected and implemented.
“The tragedy in Gaza must stop,” Borrell said.

Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi also said that the ICC’s decision must be implemented, adding that the Palestinians deserve justice after what he described as “war crimes” committed by Israel in Gaza.
The Dutch News Agency reported that Dutch Foreign Minister Caspar Veldkamp said that his country is ready to act on arrest warrants.
In the United States, Republican Senator Lindsey Graham, a close ally of President-elect Donald Trump, said: “The court is a dangerous joke. It is now time for the US Senate to act and punish this irresponsible body.
Gaza officials say that the campaign launched by Israel in Gaza for 13 months has resulted in the killing of about 44,000 Palestinians and the displacement of almost all of the Strip’s residents, while creating a humanitarian crisis.
Israel said it launched the campaign in response to the Hamas-led attack in October 2023 that killed 1,200 people in southern Israel and took more than 250 hostage.
