Global News has learned that the upcoming federal elections in Canada will be held on April 28.
Prime Minister Mark Carney is expected to visit the Governor -General to start the official election campaign.
According to a source with direct knowledge of the Prime Minister’s plans, Carney will announce April 28 as the date of the elections.
Global News confirmed earlier this week that the federal elections will not be called no more than Sunday to avoid facing the return required for the House of Commons, as opposition parties pledged to bring down the liberal government at the earliest opportunity.

Under the law, the federal election campaign must be for at least 37 days.
This comes at a time when the liberals expanded under the leadership of Carne, their progress to the Conservative Party, according to the IPSOS poll exclusively for international news.
The poll, which was published on Tuesday, found that in the event of federal elections tomorrow, the liberals will secure 42 percent of the support of the scheduled voters, compared to 36 percent of the conservatives – their progress over the conservatives is expanded by seven points in just three weeks.
Another poll of the IPSOS published on Thursday showed that Carney is the only leader of the main Canadian Federal Federal Party who gets a higher approval rating than the rejection classification.
