Boch Wilmor and Sony Williams enjoy nearly half a century of joint experience as astronauts. But this is the third time in space.
Mrs. Williams was born in Ohio, but she grew up in Massachusetts. It was a US Navy test pilot and spent more than 3000 hours flying 30 different aircraft. It was chosen as NASA’s astronaut in 1998.
Mr. Willmur, born in Tennessee, was a pilot in the naval test, and he flew combat tasks on Iraq and Bosnia in the nineties. He was chosen as a astronaut by NASA in 2000.
Their flights were to orbit for more than a decade.
Mrs. Williams had two long previous stays at the International Space Station, and the second in November 2012. Wimor occupied as a pilot for the space shuttle mission in 2009, then spent five and a half months at the space station, from September 2014 to March 2015.
If they retreat as planned on Tuesday, this last trip will host 286 days in space.
For Mrs. Williams, this will reach 608 days in space, which is the second more than an American astronaut, behind Baiji Whitson. Mrs. Williams also performed two space differences during this task and bears the record for equality between space by a female astronaut, in 62 hours 6 minutes.
