The city’s high representative in the city said that Hong Kong business leaders and political leaders should remain vigilant and make more contributions to national development through “political and comprehensive views.”
Cheng Yansiong, head of the Beijing Communication Office in Hong Kong, told politicians and commercial leaders who were attending a seminar on Monday to study the “spirit” of the annual parliamentary meetings in China, known as “two sites”.
“The two sessions have made a series of main arrangements for the country’s work in various fields, providing clear guidelines for Hong Kong to play its role better in the process of modernizing China,” Cheng’s office quoted as saying.
“Understanding the role, direction, and responsibility of Hong Kong through a political and comprehensive perspective and fulfilling our responsibilities and obligations,” said Cheng.
The call office said it was one of the six points confirmed by Cheng to understand the spirit of the two sessions. Among the attendees were the leaders of Chinese institutions, Hong Kong deputies at the National People’s Congress (NPC) and members of the Standing Committee of the National Committee of the Political Consultative Conference of the Chinese People (CPPCC).
Beijing held the two sessions earlier this month, during which NPC and CPCC members discussed major national policy plans.
The symposium was held after the publication of the Pro-Beijing Ta Kung Pao in the CK HUTCISON Canal Port in Hong Kong in its comments, describing it as “betrayal of all Chinese people” and wondering about the company’s loyalty.
